Basic Course

Basic course is intended for undergraduated students (bachelor level). Interactive teaching materials were developed in the form of lectures and simulation models.

The course includes the following topics:

The general structure of drive system. The motion equation of the drive. Steady and transient state of the drive. Motor and braking operation. Bringing torques to the motor shaft. Mechanical characteristics of electric motors and machines. Power electronic converters used in the drive systems. Drive systems with DC motors. Structures and the properties of the DC motor supplied with thyristor and transistor converters. Speed control methods for squirrel-cage and wounded rotor motors. Drive systems with asynchronous motors: cascade systems, drives with frequency converters - control principles, basic properties. Drives systems with BLDC and PMSM motors. Construction, the properties and control methods of stepper motor.
